86yo M’sian Woman Dies Without Reuniting With Son Who Left Home 15 Years Ago Due To Family Conflict

Wish unfulfilled.
Wanting to make amends and repair her strained relationship with her estranged son, an elderly woman in Penang took to social media in hopes of locating him again.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans as the elderly woman breathed her last on Monday (Jan 12) at Balik Pulau Hospital after battling an illness before the reunion could come to pass.

Waited for son to turn up

China Press reported that 86-year-old Ye Baoxin’s (transliteration) wake is currently being held at the Balik Pulau Funeral Parlour and that her funeral will take place on Friday (Jan 16) at 11am.

Ye’s granddaughter, Li Ailing (transliteration) said before her passing, Ye was waiting on her hospital bed for her youngest son Li Mingwang (transliteration) to come see her.

Sadly, that never transpired and Ye passed away not long after.

Still holding on to hope

Li added that the family appealed to the public for information on her uncle’s whereabouts via social media and have since received some information from netizens.

However, none of them have confirmed where he is right now.

“An old friend of my uncle contacted me and told me that he had been in touch with my uncle two years ago, where he discovered my uncle’s life was unstable and that he was living from house to house,” she added.

The Chinese daily reported that Ye’s youngest son left the home 15 years ago due to family conflict and was never heard of again since.

Despite this, the family is hoping that Ye’s son will attend the funeral so that he could fulfill his late mother’s wish and bid a final farewell to her.
