In recent weeks, we have witnessed many stories of how Malaysians showed kindness by banding together and sending essential items to those struggling during this FMCO.
Today, an elderly man warmed the hearts of Malaysians through his unexpected gesture of generosity during his vaccination appointment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

According to a Facebook post by USM, the man showed up with a plastic bag over his face, which already had a mask on it. This naturally attracted lots of stares and whispers over his bizarre appearance.
“He sure did attract the crowd and we can hear whispers and sarcastic laughs from the public.”

However, the man soldiered on and received his jab. After it was completed, he feebly made his way to the secretariat, handed a wad of cash, and said the following which would have put the scorners to shame:
“The frontliners have been working very hard. Please buy them lunch.”

Unfortunately, the frontliners never had the chance to thank the man for his kindness as he hurriedly left in a taxi.
“He stunned us with his generosity and humanity. Dear uncle, God bless. Let us give him some love.
The post has since garnered 5,4k reactions and 1.5k shares. Netizens also praised the man for showing concern for the frontliners in the comment section.

Many also expressed that someone should advise the uncle about the dangers of wearing a plastic bag over his head.

USM later clarified that some staff tried dissuading the man from wearing the plastic bag over his head due to safety reasons, but he insisted on keeping it on.
“Health professionals on the ground did also advised him to remove the bizarre’ protection in replacement with a face shield. Yet, he has that ultimate kind of confidence in him.”
