One of Damansara Uptown’s most recognisable shoplots is set to go under the hammer.
The three and a half storey property currently occupied by popular nasi lemak spot Village Park Restaurant will be auctioned on Oct 1, with a reserve price of RM5.3 million.
According to a post by agent Chris Pang Auction, the freehold commercial property is located along Jalan SS21/37 in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, and has a land area of about 1,650 sq ft.
Village Park is renting the shoplot
Before nasi lemak fans panic, the auction concerns the property itself and not Village Park Restaurant.
Village Park is understood to be a tenant at the premises, and there has been no announcement indicating that the restaurant is shutting down as a result of the auction.
The restaurant remains associated with the same address at No. 5, Jalan SS21/37, Damansara Utama, where it has become well known for its nasi lemak and fried chicken.
Auction ordered by High Court
A court document sighted by Malay Mail showed that the property will be auctioned publicly through the Judiciary’s e-Lelong system at 9am on Oct 1.
The auction was ordered by the Kuala Lumpur High Court, with court orders dated Jan 8 and July 23, 2026.
The property is registered under two individuals who are now deceased, with their respective estates represented by executors in the court proceedings.
The court document also states that the property is subject to a charge in favour of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, with the mortgage dated Nov 20, 2012.
RM530,000 deposit needed to bid
For anyone eyeing the property, participating in the auction will require a sizeable deposit.
Prospective bidders must put down 10% of the RM5.3 million reserve price, which works out to RM530,000, at least one working day before the auction.
The successful bidder will then have 120 days from the date of sale to settle the remaining amount.
The property will be sold on an “as is where is” basis, and the successful bidder will also be responsible for obtaining vacant possession.
According to the court document, the sale remains subject to any existing tenancies, easements, caveats, encumbrances and other rights attached to the property.
Prospective buyers have also been advised to conduct an official title search and inspect the property and its liabilities before taking part in the auction.
For now, however, there is no verified indication that the auction means Village Park Restaurant itself is closing or being sold.
It is the shoplot housing the famous nasi lemak restaurant that is heading for auction, not the business.
