AIR ITAM – Ask any Penangite which stall serves the best asam laksa in town, and they will lead you to this renowned spot near the Air Itam Market that has been in operation for 66 years.
Living up to its reputation of being the crème de la crème of asam laksa stalls in Penang, long lines are a common sight at this establishment as hungry diners are eager to sink their teeth into this local favourite.
However, Penangites were shocked when the stall announced via Facebook that today (May 18) would be their last day of operations, prompting many to buy several packets of asam laksa before it disappears.
MCO 3.0 was rumoured to be the culprit behind its closure, which has dealt a heavy blow to many small businesses. We sincerely hope that it’s a temporary break and that the stall will come back stronger soon!
