The Opposition took a swipe at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, suggesting that he might want to switch careers and become a dancer after a clip of him dancing with United States President Donald Trump went viral.
The comment came as part of their criticism of the recent Malaysia United States reciprocal trade agreement.
“We are not jealous that you danced with Trump”
Opposition Leader Hamzah Zainudin insisted that the criticism had nothing to do with jealousy over Anwar’s dance moves.
Reported by Malaysiakini, he said the issue was about the trade deal, not the Prime Minister’s rhythm.
What I find strange is the Prime Minister enjoying himself dancing. If he enjoys dancing, that is his business. We are not jealous that he danced. We are not jealous that he danced with Trump when welcoming him,” Hamzah said.
He added that Anwar’s decision to break into dance during official events raised questions about decorum, especially when other world leaders were standing beside him.

Earlier this week, a video of Trump’s arrival in Malaysia went viral across multiple platforms, racking up more than 21.5 million views.
Trump was welcomed with a traditional dance performance at the airport and was seen joining in.
Anwar followed the rhythm and entertained the moment, which drew a mix of praise and criticism from Malaysians.
Opposition says their concern is the trade deal, not the dancing
Hamzah stressed that the Opposition only wanted clarity on the Malaysia United States reciprocal trade agreement, especially Article 3.3 which deals with digital trade.
“I want to tell the Prime Minister that we are not jealous you could dance with Trump at the airport or during official programmes,” he said.
“What we are questioning is the agreement. We are questioning the dignity of the government and the dignity of the country.”
He then took another jab at Anwar.
If you really want to keep dancing, then change your profession. You can become a good dancer. I think Malaysia needs good dancers for dance competitions. Maybe we can ask him to represent Malaysia.”
