In every marriage, the husband and wife are supposed to have an equal voice and responsibility in handling finances. However, some may find themselves on the shorter end in the relationship.
A woman recently took to social media to voice her frustration over having to give her whole salary to her husband, only for her rant to be met with brickbats from netizens.
‘He takes ALL of my salary’
In a Threads post, the woman wrote that she had grown deeply annoyed by her husband demanding that her salary be handed over to him every month.
I’m so exhausted, I swear. Throughout the one year I’ve been married, every time I get my salary and after paying for all my commitments, I have to transfer ALL of it to my husband.
“His excuse? He claims that he wants to manage our finances properly.”
The woman added that she’s given a weekly allowance by her husband to get to work, and often had to wait for money to be transferred to her account whenever she wanted to buy something.
To add insult to injury, she said that the money given to her actually comes from her salary, adding that her husband would accuse her of “idolising money” whenever she argued with him over finances.
Backlash
In the comment section, netizens were horrified to see the woman willingly hand her hard-earned money to her husband for no solid reason and called her out for it, with some bluntly calling her actions as “stupid”.
One warned the woman that her husband was gaslighting/manipulating her into handing over her salary with accusations of “idolising money” so he could gain access to the cash.
Another urged the woman to transfer the remainder of her salary to a separate bank account and only give 5 sen to her husband as he had no right to lay claim to her salary.
