A young police constable in Sepang lost his life after he was swept away by strong floodwaters on Friday night, only a few hours after buying an engagement ring for his partner.

Constable Muhammad Rahimi Amirudin, 23, who served at the Nilai District Police Headquarters, had been preparing for his merisik and engagement ceremony that was planned for next year.
His family said the ring he bought that evening was the final item he needed for the celebration.
Had dinner with his soon to be fiancee before heading to work

According to mStar, his father, Amirudin Mohd Hanifah, shared that Rahimi had dinner with his soon to be fiancee and her family before leaving for his night shift at 11 in the evening.
However, his drive to work was disrupted when he encountered a flooded stretch of road.
He asked residents if the road was safe
Before entering the area, Rahimi asked nearby residents if the road was passable. Although they advised him not to continue, he still attempted to drive through. The rising water pushed his car into a water channel, forcing him to get out and swim.
He was swept away by the current shortly after.
Seen clinging to a road sign while still in uniform
Residents later saw him holding on to a road sign pole while still in full uniform. The strong currents eventually pulled him away at around 10.30 in the evening.
Body found the next morning

His body was discovered the next morning, about 50 metres from where he was first reported missing.
His father spoke to the media after Rahimi’s burial at the Taman Purnama Muslim Cemetery in Simpang Renggam on Sunday.
He said the family was heartbroken that Rahimi never got the chance to fulfil his wish to get engaged after Aidilfitri next year.
