What was supposed to be a simple dinner date turned into an unexpected family gathering for one Malaysian man after his date brought along her mother and younger brother without prior notice.
What’s worse? He was expected to pay for all of them!
Single plate already cost RM50
According to the man’s post on Threads, he initially thought it would be a romantic evening for two.
But things took a surprising turn when his date showed up with not only her mother but also her brother in tow.
“She asked me out on a date but brought her mum and younger brother along. I get it if she wants to avoid any inappropriate situations, but when a single plate already costs RM50, where am I supposed to find the extra money?” he shared, adding that he wasn’t from a wealthy background.
By the end of the night, he had spent RM300 just on dinner alone, a bill he hadn’t expected to foot.
The evening didn’t end right there. The man also claimed his date later asked him to take them shopping and to pay for everything.
She looked so gentle and didn’t seem like the type to take advantage of people. But suddenly, I had to pay for her whole family. It was too much.”
He added it was an awkward situation because he couldn’t exactly tell her mother he didn’t have enough money to pay for their shopping expenses.
