This morning, students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Utama 4 were left reeling in horror and fearing for their lives after a 14-year-old male student fatally stabbed a 16-year-old female schoolmate.
Following the tragedy, more disturbing details have emerged regarding the case, with one witness shedding more light on what could have triggered the attack.
Was rejected by victim
Speaking to NST, the witness said the suspect had reportedly confessed his love for the victim the night before the stabbing incident.
However, she didn’t feel the same way for him and turned him down.
On the day of the attack, the suspect armed himself with several sharp weapons and proceeded to corner the victim in the school’s female toilet before stabbing her in one of the cubicles.
He was holding a knife and had her hostage inside the toilet. Then he started stabbing her repeatedly.
“A friend of the victim, who was nearby, ran off to find a discipline teacher for help. The teacher rushed to the toilet and tried to kick down the door.
“After several attempts, she managed to break it open, but the boy escaped and began chasing other students with the knife,” said the witness.
The witness said students panicked when the suspect allegedly entered several Form One classrooms while still holding the bloodstained weapon.
“He ran into the classes and everyone just started screaming and running outside. His shirt was covered in blood.
“It finally came to an end when the suspect’s elder brother and several teachers managed to restrain him and seize the knife.
“His brother managed to grab the knife after struggling with him. The teachers were trying to calm him down,” she recounted.
When contacted, Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat confirmed that this was one of the angles being investigated.
“I cannot divulge much as we are still in the midst of investigating the case, including the actual motive for the attack,” he said, adding more updates will be provided soon.
Victim suffered 50 stab wounds
China Press reported that a post-mortem revealed that the victim sustained at least 50 stab wounds to her neck and body.
It also reported that the suspect, who’s the youngest among three siblings, didn’t suffer from any mental health illnesses.
