Winning a prize at a lucky draw event can be both exciting and frustrating at the same time, especially when you have no idea whether you’ll ever snag a prize, let alone the grand prize.
A family could hardly believe their ears when their 5-year-old member was named the winner of a brand new Perodua Aruz, making the moment all the more stunning given the fact that she couldn’t drive yet.

The lucky girl in question was Ainul Mardhiah Hirizuan, who edged out thousands of attendees and landed her hands on the car during the lucky draw event at the Opening Ceremony of the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) XXI yesterday (Aug 18).
Speaking to Suara Sarawak about her daughter’s win, Pisza Kawi said she initially didn’t believe that Ainul had won the car and had to confirm the results several times before finally realising that it was reality.
“At first, we (the family) were planning to leave right after the SUKMA opening ceremony, but we decided to stay for the performance by Datuk Awie.
When my daughter’s name was announced as the last lucky draw winner, I really couldn’t believe it. I confirmed multiple times whether the name mentioned was really my daughter’s name,” she said.
Pisza added that her daughter’s win made the family’s long walk to the Sarawak Stadium to watch the SUKMA opening ceremony all the more worth it.
When asked how the Perodua Aruz will be utilised, Pisza said that the family will use it for daily tasks such as picking the children up from school as they currently only have a Perodua Myvi to do so.
Aside from the Perodua Aruz, several other lucky draw prizes were also up for grabs such as a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Apple Watch Ultra S2, and a HP Laptop 15.
