5 M’sian Kids Sent To Orphanage After Dad Dies From Injuries & Mum Leaves Them For Vietnam

Relatives cried upon bidding farewell to the children.
There was hardly a dry eye for a family in Perak as relatives could hardly hold back their tears while parting with a group of siblings they had watched grow up since young.

This comes after the children’s father passed away following an accident and their mother left them behind to return to her home country.

Tough background

According to Sin Chew Daily, the five kids are aged between 5 to 16 years old. They also have an older sister who’s 18 and currently works at a restaurant in Ipoh, where she earns RM1,700 monthly.

However, the meagre income wasn’t enough to support the five siblings, who live in a house alongside their three elderly aunties.

The siblings also slept together inside a small room, which barely had sufficient space and was rather cluttered.

Family history

Speaking to the Chinese daily, relatives said the children’s father, Xie Chengyou (transliteration) made a living as a fisherman, while their mother, a Vietnamese national named Tang Di, was a housewife.

“In April 2024, they had a verbal argument and Tang left for Vietnam alone.

“In the seventh lunar month of this year, Xie was sending his youngest son to school on his motorcycle when he suddenly fell and was injured.

“After receiving medical treatment, he returned home to recuperate but suddenly passed away on Dec 9, leaving the family with no breadwinner.”

Following Xie’s death, Tang came back for three days before returning to Vietnam again after she informed family members that she couldn’t care for the children.

Tearful farewell

In light of the circumstances, the siblings’ relatives had no option but to send them away to Anshun Jaz Home so that they could live and receive education in a better environment.

However, it was anything but easy as they wept profusely while packing the kids’ belongings before seeing them off.

One of the children told Sin Chew Daily that although he was afraid of living at an orphanage, he was willing to have a fresh start in life together with his siblings.
