What started as a request for an iPhone turned into a shocking tragedy in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
According to reports, a 15-year-old schoolgirl had asked her 42-year-old boyfriend to buy her an iPhone worth about 8 million rupiah (roughly RM2,000).
However, he could only afford 3 million rupiah (about RM750). This then led to a heated argument between the two.
A police chief confirmed that the suspect, a married man, lost his temper when the girl became upset over the cheaper phone.
It then spiraled into a physical fight, with the man grabbing a wooden stick and brutally beating the girl until she lost consciousness in a fit of rage.
Body dumped into river
After the murder, the suspect allegedly dragged the girl’s body and dumped it into a river at Teluk Bogam village in an attempt to cover his tracks.

However, the girl’s family members discovered the crime and alerted the authorities.
Upon realising what he had done, the man reportedly tried to take his own life by drinking poison but was rescued and sent to the hospital.
Police have since arrested him and launched an investigation into the incident.
