# 27yo M’sian Sees Doctor To Get MC For Fever, Only To Find Out He Has Stage 3 Kidney Cancer

This comes after the doctor discovered a massive tumour in his abdomen, and it was later found to be a symptom of late-stage kidney cancer.

## Unresolved fever

Speaking to [Sinar Harian](https://www.sinarharian.com.my/article/802805/edisi/selangor-kl/niat-ke-klinik-hanya-mahu-mc-sekali-disahkan-kanser-tahap-tiga), Muaz Yazid said he initially experienced intermittent fever for more than a month before seeking medical attention.

Despite multiple treatments, the fever refused to subside completely, prompting the doctor to run Covid-19 and influenza tests, as well as a general health screening on Muaz.

Although the tests cleared Muaz of signs indicating a life-threatening disease, the fever still lingered and the doctor performed an ultrasound scan on him.

## 26cm tumour found

To Muaz's shock, the scan revealed a 26cm tumour in his abdomen. Further medical examinations later confirmed that he was suffering from stage three kidney cancer.

**The news hit Muaz especially hard, who lost his mother to stage four breast cancer early last year.**

"When I found out that I had cancer, I was stunned and could not say anything.

"I later contacted my adoptive mother and told her about my illness. Upon hearing the news, she tried to calm me down and encouraged me to stay positive."

Muaz also revealed that before the diagnosis, he experienced infection in his bloodstream, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, sudden weight loss and blood in his urine.

## Declining health

Following the diagnosis, Muaz said his health was no longer what it used to be as he falls sick more often and takes a long time to recover whenever he has fever.

On top of kidney cancer, he's also battling hypoglycaemia, declining nutritional levels, gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and appetite loss.

Muaz currently treats his condition by taking medication without undergoing chemotherapy.

He also undergoes medical examinations every two to three months, alongside follow-up appointments every six months at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
