A viral CCTV footage showed two young girls getting traumitised and running away from a man who allegedly showed his private parts from inside a car.
Following the incident, the man was later arrested after one of the girl’s father lodged a police report.
Called out to girls from car
In the footage, it showed a black Honda Accord lingering in the area when the girls were seen walking down the street.
When they got closer to the car, both of them turned their heads towards the vehicle before turning away and running as fast as they could.
The Honda Accord is then seen reversing and speeding away from the scene.
Suspect arrested
In a statement by Johor Baru (North) police chief Assistant Commissioner Radin Ramlan Radin Taha, he said a police report was lodged by one of the girls’ father.
He added the incident took place along Jalan Padi Mahsuri 10 when the suspect called out to the girls and asked for directions to a toilet.
When they approached him, the suspect subsequently exposed himself to them, reported NST.
Police eventually arrested the suspect at a house in Masai at 11pm the same day.
He will be remanded today to facilitate investigations under Section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for non-physical sexual acts, including indecent exposure.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.
